DHH Releases Rules on Hospital and Physician Rate Reductions

DHH recently released emergency rules on inpatient and outpatient hospital rate reductions and rate cuts for physician services. Late last Friday, DHH released a 6 percent inpatient hospital rate reduction for Medicaid services, which will be effective for dates of service on or after Jan. 22, 2010.
This week, the department released an outpatient hospital rate reduction of 5.35 percent for non-state, non-rural hospitals, which will be effective for dates of service on or after Jan. 22, 2010. There was also a rule issued regarding reductions in physician services, which vary by type of service and amounts.
The LHA intends to continue to work with DHH and the legislature to try to eliminate these cuts.
